It's the little things in life

My friend Nicole came over for dinner the other evening, something so simple yet difficult as we all seem to be so busy between raising children and working and life in general, time seems to be the most precious thing in our lives these days. With the best of intentions and promises to make more time for ourselves and each other, it seems to be the one thing that constantly eludes us... we need to make more of an effort.. and the years go by and we promise.. this year now we'll make more of an effort to see each other more often.. and the year ends and another starts and we say the same thing, so maybe 2011 is the year to change the trend and ACTUALLY come good on our promise. Otherwise before we know it we'll be in our 60's and thinking, we should have made more time for ourselves.

Girlfriends are the most joyous thing God gave us women. When the chips are down, they are there with a hug and a tissue and a comforting word. When we're riding high they're there with us enjoying the good times. They mind your bag while you run to the loo, they have your back when the latest bastard cheats on you, they defend you to the death, they laugh at you when your being ridiculous..they'll cry with you,  they'll be honest about what your wearing but let you down gently, they'll lend you their last ten euro.. they trust you with their kids.. that must be the ultimate compliment.. and they are only a phone call away 24 hours a day.

So ladies, just to let you know, I appreciate you.. you know who you are! xxx

  1. Beautiful Dee....LOVE it!!!! Yes, yes, yes...girlfriends are the most important thing a girl can have...marriage and men, well they can get old and relationships are often overrated (don't tell Jim!!!) As for making more time for girlfriends...I say end the trend that you spoke off. Didn't ye say that ye did a lunch date a while back and ye loved the idea of not getting home to late and the girls loved the idea of not being exhausted in the morning to tend to their little ones. It could be breakfast, lunch, brunch...make it work Dee.God what I would give to be there to do that with you and Sharon and I know Orlie probably feels the same way!!!I say we girls take a trip to Ozl, just us. Alas, for me and for the girls too, I;m sure, I won't consider it until Aidan is much older, but I am determined to make it happen. I bet you'll get there before all of us. I love living through your exciting adventures...I love how you truly do enjoy life to the fullest and make the most of it and are so spontaneous...I know you are now a mortgage payer, so you will have to calm down on the good life just a tad, but knowing you, you'll manage some bit o' fun. Love the photo Denise. Just to let you know you do have one spelling error "American"...I know you would like to know. Chat later girlfriend. Love you!!!! oxxoxoxooxxooxxoxoxo
